The arrival of a block turbo on the future versions of the Audi R8, possibility raisedwith insistence for a few weeks now, should occur within the next two to three yearsand would involve the introduction of a block V6 2.9 liter Twin-Turbo.
The second generation of the Audi R8 currently available at the Ingolstadtmanufacturer's catalogue, is available with the atmospheric engine V10 5.2 litreavailable in versions developing 540 to 610 PS (for the R8 more). An offer which, according to information reported by CAR Magazine, should therefore be accompanied by medium-term of a block V6 2.9 liter equipped with twinturbochargers and developing around 450 HP
A choice that would confirm the remarks made recently by Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg,Member of the Board of Directors of Audi AG and responsible for the technicaldevelopment of the brand, stated that while "the transition to the turbo engine will become inevitable at some point for this model", and that it would be "logical for it to have a wider range".
This future model would position itself at the bottom of the R8 range, and shared itsengine with the next generations of the S4 and RS4 models. It would also allow theconstructor to the rings to be better placed on the Chinese market where heavy-dutyengines are heavily taxed.
